Copper has its limitations: 10 Gbps over 100 metres, susceptibility to interference, and predictable saturation.

Fibre has none of these limitations. Virtually unlimited bandwidth, total immunity to electromagnetic interference, transmission distances measured in kilometres. A well-designed fibre infrastructure today will support 2050’s data rates without any intervention.

At ICT Vision, we don’t just lay fibre: we build backbones. From the design of fibre-optic network topologies to OTDR certification, including cable laying and splicing: every project follows a rigorous, standardised and documented methodology.

Does my business need fibre optics?

  • “We need to connect two racks in our server room – it’s just a small link.”

No project is too small. We deploy, connect and certify even a single fibre link with the same rigour as a project involving 500 links.

  • Our operator is supplying us with the fibre, but we don’t know how to connect it

We carry out the connection from the operator’s fibre feed to your patch panel: fusion splicing or pre-terminated connectors, patch cords, optical trays and certification of the entire link.

  • “Our copper backbone is at full capacity and our data transfers are slow.”

Copper is limited to 10 Gbps over 100 metres. OS2 single-mode fibre supports 400 Gbps over 10 kilometres and beyond. We’ll replace your backbone without creating any new bottlenecks.

  • “We have several buildings to connect; copper cannot cover the distance.”

We design the appropriate inter-building fibre infrastructure: from a single 6-fibre link for an SME to multiple 24-fibre links for a campus.

  • “Our server room needs to upgrade to 10G or 100G.”

We deploy the appropriate fibre: OM4 for a 10G link between two switches, and a complete MPO/MTP infrastructure for a 100G/400G migration.

Types of work

  • Deployment of a new fibre-optic infrastructure (new build or refurbishment)

Needs analysis and on-site technical survey. Calculation of the optical link budget. High-level design (HLD)/Low-level design (LLD). Selection of components (OS2/OM4/OM5). Blowing or controlled pulling. Fusion splicing. Tier 1 + Tier 2 OTDR certification of 100% of links. TIA-606-C labelling, handover of the complete DOE.

  • Extension or migration to ultra-high-speed broadband

Audit of existing fibre infrastructure: OTDR testing of each link, verification of residual capacity. Design of the extension in line with the existing network. Certification of new links and re-certification of affected existing links. Update of the DOE.

  • Fibre audit and remediation

Comprehensive audit: visual inspection and OTDR testing of connectors, bidirectional OTDR testing of each link, verification of bend radii and mechanical stresses. Audit report including fault mapping, prioritisation of corrective actions and cost estimate. Implementation of the remediation plan in phases.

Included in every service call:
Technical assessment and link cost calculation, supply and installation of components, fusion splicing or pre-terminated connectors, 100% link certification (Tier 1 + OTDR), microscopic inspection of connectors, standard-compliant labelling, comprehensive documentation and digital DOE, and activation of the manufacturer’s system warranty.

Types of fibre

  1. Single-mode OS2

Inter-building backbone, long-distance (40+ km), 10G to 400G and above. Minimum service life of 30 years. The standard for any long-term infrastructure.

  2. Multimode OM4

Intra-building and data centre applications, 10G up to 550 m. Excellent value for money for short-distance links.

  3. Multimode OM5

High-performance data centres, SWDM multiplexing, 40G/100G/400G over fewer fibres. Optimised for dense environments.

  4. Pre-terminated MPO/MTP

70 per cent faster installation. Factory-terminated trunks, consistent quality, less on-site handling.

  5. Armoured and outdoor cables

Rodent-resistant, UV-resistant, hydrophobic gel. For inter-building links and challenging environments.

Why ICT Vision?

  • In-house design office. Every project begins with a comprehensive study: site survey, high-level and low-level design, and calculation of the cabling budget. Actionable AutoCAD/BIM deliverables, independent of any manufacturer.
  • Expert connection/ fusion splicing (< 0.02 dB loss) or factory-pre-terminated connectors. No mechanical connectors. Every splice is checked, every connector inspected under a microscope.
  • Systematic OTDR certification. Every link is certified to Tier 1 and Tier 2 OTDR standards. A comprehensive report is provided for each link, including a reflectometry curve, with a 25-year archiving period. No uncertified links, no unpleasant surprises.
  • Designed to last 25 years. OS2 single-mode fibre used throughout the backbone. The infrastructure installed today already supports 400G and will handle future data rates without the need for intervention.
  • Total immunity. Unaffected by electromagnetic interference, no spurious emissions, impossible to intercept. Ideal for industrial, medical and secure environments.
  • 25-year manufacturer’s system warranty. Certified installer for Corning, CommScope and Nexans. Warranty covering components and application performance.

What this means in practice

Bandwidth from 10G to 400G on each link. Distances of up to 40 km in single-mode. Ultra-low latency. Total immunity to interference. Minimum service life of 25 years.

Bandwidth upgrade (10G → 100G → 400G) simply by changing the transceiver, without touching the fibre. Your infrastructure is ready for uses you haven’t even imagined yet.
